Rich has worked in both large matrix organizations and small company acquisitions at Applied Materials, helping to grow revenue from $230 Million to over $10 Billion. He has experienced multiple international assignments, leading teams of over 50 people with full P&L responsibility. His roles have included the areas of GM, Operations, Sales/Sales Management, Business Development, Field Service, Product Development, and Training & Quality. These roles included serving in the capital equipment sector for semiconductors, display and solar energy markets. Rich's areas of expertise include integrating new business units and strategic growth initiatives (Sales / Business development). He has led multiple cross-cultural organizations to win over $1 Billion dollars of new business. He collaborated with customers to co-author and publish articles, co-developed technical solutions using both vendor and customer technology, and negotiated agreements with complex joint venture organizations consisting of multi-cultural partners. Building high performance organizations and negotiating across complex, multi-cultural environments is a norm for Rich. He managed complex sales cycles up to 3 years, (Equipment, Service, spares & SaaS) with deal sizes ranging from $50k to $345M. He has been on multiple Integration teams for small company acquisitions (Israel, England, Italy, Switzerland). Rich outsourced manufacturing to Asian suppliers (Flextronics), and also worked in product development, product support, manufacturing, and quality. Organizational systems thinking is a core competence he has gained after having to manage multiple facets of the organization.
